OBITUARY
. . MR. T. WOODS.
An old and.very highly respected
resident of Moree and district, in the
person of Mr. Thomas Woods, of Kin
nimo, near Ashley, died with tragic
suddenness on Friday afternoon when
returning from Sydney with his
daughter, Miss Eva Woods. Mr. Woods,
with a couple of other parties
from the Moree district, had been to
the show, and was returning by car.
When in Boggabri Mr. Woods com
plained of feeling unwell, but attri
buted his illness to indigestion, and
decided to continue the journey.
.The party got safely to Narrabri
where Mr. Wobds said he felt better.
It was decided to continue the jour
ney, but in Balonne Street Mr. Woods,
who was driving the car, was noticed
by his daughter, to swoon at the
wheel. She had the presence of mind
to take the wheel from her father,
and stop the car when it was found
that-Mr.Woods was dead. Death was.
due to heart failure.
The body was: brought, to Moree,
and the funeral took, place in the
Church of England portion of the
cemetery yesterday afternoon, the
Rev. Clout performing the burial
service. The funeral was one of the
largest ever attended in Moree, show
ing unmistakably the high esteem in
which the deceased gentleman was
held by all sections of the commun
ity. The late Mr. Woods, who was ab
out 53 years of age, had lived for
many years in the district, where he
was well-known for his many charit
able actions. Of a quiet and unassum
ing nature, the deceased nevertheless
was always ready help those less
fortunately placed than himself. His
wife pre-deceased him some 15 months
ago. He leaves three daughters, Mrs.
F. Houston, and Misses Eva and Ray
Woods and two sons, Ken and Allan
to mourn their loss. He is survived
By four brothers and four sisters. The
Former are Messrs. William Wood
(Kinnimo East, Garah), George
Woods (Nolla, Moree), Richard W.
Woods (Wilga Downs, Ashley), and
Alex. (Woodpark), and the latter
