Obit: The funeral of the late James Sneddon of Lindsay Street Hamilton, which took place on Saturday afternoon, was attended by a large number of relatives and friends, including the officers of the Hand and Heart Lodge of the Ancient Order of the Druids, Newcastle, of which branch, the deceased was the oldest member, having joined 45 years ago. Messrs. S. Thompson, D. McNaughton, I. Keddie and W. Fraser were pall bearers. The interment was in the Presbyterian section of Sandgate Cemetery, where a burial service was conducted by the Rev. Anderson, who also held a short service at the house previous to the cortage leaving.
The late Mr. Sneddon was a native of Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, and arrived in Hamilton 54 years ago, living in the same house the whole time. His place of residence was then surrounded by bush and the number of dwellings at the Borehole, as the suburb at that time was called, were few and far between.
The deceased is survived by his widow, 4 sons, 3 daughters and 36 grandchildren. The relatives were the recipients of numerous expressions of sympathy and many floral tributes of respect were placed on the coffin.
