Daily Mercury (Mackay) 6 July 1897
Old Identities. — Mr. John Gorman, an old Mackay resident, passed away last Sunday night at his residence in Macalister Street, after a long and prolonged illness. Mr. Gorman was once host, of the old Horse and Jockey Hotel, near the Racecourse Central mill, and was also connected with the Police Force a long time ago. The funeral took place at 4 p.m. yesterday, and was attended by the numerous friends of the family.
Note 4: Daily Mercury (Mackay) 8 Aug 1911
The funeral of the late Mrs. John Gorman, of Finch Hatton, took place yesterday, interment being made in the Mackay Cemetery. The body was brought to town by the morning train, and the cortege moved from the Railway Station. At the graveside the last sad rites of the Roman Catholic Church were performed by the Very Rev. Father Bucas.
The late Mrs. Gorman, who was 73 years of age, resided with her daughter, Mrs. W. Curran, for the last nine or ten years, first at Mirani and during the past few years at Finch Hatton. Two sons and one daughter are left to mourn their loss, the late Mrs. Gorman's husband, Constable Gorman, having predeceased her some thirteen or fourteen years ago. Mrs. Curran (Hinch Hatton) and Messrs. Steve Gorman (Mackay) and John Gorman (China) are children of the deceased. The Oldest son of the family, Mr. William Gorman, only recently died in Toowoomba.
