Note 3: Northern Miner (Charters Towers) 30 May 1917 There passed away at the Hamp den Hospital on Saturday last, a re spected and well known old resident of Charters Towers in the person of Mr Samuel Goldsworthy. On this goldfield he followed the occupation of engine driver, and took a prom- inent part in musical matters, and was an active member of the Lieder- tafel. His singing frequently gave delight to Charters Towers audiences at concerts and Eisteddfod contests during the past thirty years. He was always willing to give his services as a singer, to help any worthy cause or charitable object. Being of a genial kindly disposition be was well liked by all who knew him and he leaves a host of friends who will sin- cerely regret to hear of his passing. In recent years Mr Goldsworthy had been a martyr to rheumatism and suffered frequent severe attacks of that complaint. For some weeks past he was inmate of the Hamp den Hospital, where he succumbed on Saturday last. He leaves a family of five children, three daughters and two sons, to mourn their loss, and for whom much sympathy is expressed in their sad bereavement, especially as their mother predecease
