DEATH OF OLD RESIDENT.
Mr. Edward Quirk, ot Mungarr, who
had reached the extreme old age of 93
years, died yesterday (says the Mary
borough " Chronicle " of 11th May). The
deceased was born in 1815, the year of
Waterloo, at Baun, Ireland, and was an
elderly man of 60 when he came to -Mary
borough in 1875, in the ship Tim Whif
fler. He settled at Mungarr, and had rc-
mained there over since. Many -years
ago he had the misfortune to lose one
leg in a trolly accident, in the old saw
mill, and since then had been a familiar
and active figure at Mungarr with his
wooden leg. He is survived by an aged
wife, one married son, and three married
daughters.

QUIRK.—On October 23rd, 1909, at her son's residence, Ellena street,
Maryborough, Mary Quirk (late of Mungarr), aged 83 years.—(R.I.P.)

There passed away yesterday at her son's residence, Ellena street, an old
and respected resident of Mungarr, Mrs. Quirk, whose husband, it will be
remembered, died a year ago last May. Mrs. Quirk was a native of Ireland,
having been born in the parish of Nena. In 1875 she came out to Maryborough
and immediately took up her residence at Mungarr. where she lived until her
husband's decease, then removing to Maryborough and living with her son.
The deceased lady was well and hearty till with a day or so of her death she
leaves a son, Mr, John Quirk of Maryborough, and three daughters. Mrs.
Barker (Maryborough). Mrs. McGuire (Kingarov) and Mrs. T. Lutteral (Degilbo).
The funeral takes place today this afternoon from. Mr. John Quirk s residence,
Ellena street.

The funeral of Mrs. Kate Lut
teral, who died at Degilbo on
Wednesday, was largely attended by
the deceased's friends and relatives.
The Rev. Father Gleeson, P.P. (Gayn
dah), who attended Mrs. Lutteral in
her last illness, officiated at the grave
side. Father Glccson also celebrated
the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in her
| old home on the morning of the fun
eral. Mrs. Lutteral was widely known
and respected for her outstanding
charity, her willingness to help on all
occasion;, when help was needed and
her wonderfully happy disposition, not
withstanding a long period of suffer
ing. Her husband, Thomas Francis
Lutteral, pre-dcceased her about 20
years ago. She leaves a family of
nine children to mourn her passing,
Messrs. Thomas (Mt. Coolon) Philip
(Longreach), Francis (Strathpine),
William (Brisbane), Mesdames Quin
lan (Townsvillc), Humphries (Degilbol,
Stellmach (Maryborough) and the
Misses Eileen and Mavis, who resided
with their mother in Degilbo. One
son, Cecil, died in 1911. Mrs. Lutteral
w6s born in Kilkenny, Ireland, and
was within a few weeks of C9 years
of age. She came to Queensland with
her parents (the late Mr. and Mrs.
Edward Quirk in 1875. Her sister,
Mrs. Barker, of Maryborough, pre
deceased her about three years ago,
but she is survived by her brother.
Mr. John Quirk, of Maryborough, and
her sister, Mrs. Mary McGuire, Taa
binga Village. The attendance at her
funeral and the large number of mes
sages of condolence received by the
members of her family bear testimony
of the esteem and respect in which
she was held. Mrs. Lutteral resided
in Degilbo for upwards of 45 years.
