Catherine was born around 1788 (birth year gained from age at death) in Scotland Catherine married Robert McFarlane 9 December 1808 in Glasgow, Scotland. Robert was a soldier, he died but whether in battle or not is not known. Catherine McFarlane (noted as a widow) next married George Cadby a soldier, 1 October 1814 in Gorbals, Scotland. George, Catherine and 5 children arrived aboard the John Barry in 1826. Of the 5 children, Robert McFarlane was Catherine's son from her first marriage. After Catherine's death George returned to England in 1835 (which is another story) where he remained until he died in 1864. All five children remained in Australia, the younger children were left in the care of their elder siblings. |
