Mr JOHN GUY.
The death occurred on Saturday
morning at Boort of Mr John Guy,
after a 40 years' residence in the dis
trict, and, although 83 years at the
time of death, had taken an active
interest in various matters until a few
months ago. He always seemed to
conquer against great odds, and was
well liked. Mr Guy's wife prede
ceased him several years. He leaves
eight children to mourn the loss of a
kind parent. They arc— Mrs T Baines
(Marmal), William (Corop), John
(Ultima), Andrew (Kaneira), George
( Boort), Thomas ( Waitchie), Charles
(Kaneira), and Miss Ada Guy (Boort),
all of whom have the deepest sym
pathy of a large circle of friends in
their bereavement. The funeral took
place at the Boort cemetery, and was
largely attended.

DEATH OF MR. JOHN
GUY.
The early settlers of the district
are passing away, and we have to
chronicle the demise of another of
those old pioneers who have done
so much to build up the district, in
the person of Mr John Guy, late of
"Calverton," Boort, who passed
quietly away on Sunday morning
last at the ripe old age of 83 years.
The deceased gentleman settled
near Boort about 40 years ago, and
was highly esteemed and respected
by all. It can safely be said that
he had not enemy, his quiet,
unassuming character gaining friends
for him everywhere. He was a
great sport, and took a keen interest in
cricket, football, tennis, and
all manly sports. On one occasion,
when the old Langview cricket
club was in existence, the Guy
family were the only members of
the team to turn up to do battle
against Boort, and so well did the
whole family play that they gained
a decisive victory. It is reported
that in the early days of his settlement
the crop was taken off by Mr
and Mrs Guy with reaping hooks.
Mr Guy's wife predeceased him by
several years. He leaves eight
children to mourn the loss of a kind
parent. They are - Mrs T. Baines
(Marmal), William (Corop), John
(Ultima), Andrew (Kaneira),
George (Boort), Thomas (Wait-
chie), Charles (Kaneira), and Miss
Ada Guy (Boort), all of whom
have the deepest sympathy of a
large circle of friends in their
bereavement. The funeral took place
at the Boort cemetery on Monday
afternoon when a large number
followed the remains of the deceased
gentleman to their last resting
place, the cortege being nearly half
a mile long. The Rev. G. Stewart
conducted the funeral service at the
grave, and the mortuary arrangements
were carried out by Mr W.
McLaren.
