Korumburra, George Hawker, the dearly beloved
husband of Elsie, loved father of Grace, Mary, and
Alma. - At rest

MELBOURNE, Wednesday.
Mr. George Hawker, formerly a leading rifle-
man and father of the late Mr. Harry Hawker,
the Australian airman, died at his home in
Korumburra to-day, after a long Illness. He
had been blind for some time. Mr. Hawker
represented Victoria in important rifle matches
for 14 years. He visited all States and New
Zealand. In 1897 and 1898, he was a mem-
ber of the Victorian teams at Bisley.

Mr. George Hawker, formerly a leading
rifleman, and father of the late Mr. Harry
Hawker, the Australian airman, died at
his home, in Korumburra (V.), on August 9,
after a long illness. He had been blind for
some time. Mr. Hawker represented Vic
toria in important rifle matches for 14 years.
He visited all States and New Zealand. In
1897 and 1898 he was a member of the
Victorian teams at Bisley, England. The
team of 1897 won the Kolapore Cup. He
was twice married, and he leaves a widow
and three young daughters. By his first
wife he had two daughters and two sons,
including Mr. Harry Hawker, who was
killed when his aeroplane crashed in Eng
land soon after the war. For 14 years Mr.
Hawker was a home missionary of the
Methodist Church. For many years Mr.
Hawker owned the blacksmith and wheel
wright's shop which is a familiar land
mark in Point Nepean road near the Moo
rabbin railway gates.
