Smith, Mayfield, Daylesford; loved brother of Mrs. J. Wood, Will, Frank, Mrs. J. H. Smith, Joseph, Charles, and Mrs.E. G. Robinson. Townsville Daily Bulletin 16th Nov 1928 AYR NOTES Monday also brought the news by telegram of the unexpected death of Mr. George Henry Smith, at Toowoomba. Mr. Smith was a farmer at Airdmillan and for some years was in partnership with his brother, Mr. R. Smith, who died about a year ago. The late Mr Smith had been in indifferent health since his brother's decease, and had been an inmate of the District Hospital. He went to Toowoomba a few months ago for special treatment and the last report was very reassuring. The end was very sudden as the news of his death came as a great shock to his wife and family. The body is being brought from Toowoomba by the mail train arriving early on Friday morning and the funeral will move from the Ayr Presbyterian Church the same afternoon.

Note 5: Reg No 1949/004009 - page 215 - parents Henry and Alice Billings Burdekin burial register - 20/6/1949 , age 56 - died 20 June 1949 Townsville Daily Bulletin 12 July 1949 OBITUARY Mr. Harold Braby. a very well known Ayr district resident, recently passed away suddenly. Mr. Braby, who resided at Gibson Street, Irvingdale Estate. was assisting to beat out a grass fire on a neighbour's property when he collapsed and died. Deceased, who was 57 years of age accompanied his parents to Ayr from Mackay when a child of two and he had lived In the Ayr district ever since. Mr. Braby's name will always be associated with Alva Beach township. He built a kiosk and a few huts there and worked hard to improve the area. Now, there are over 50 cottages at Alva. Deceased had not enjoyed the best of health for some time, but his end was most unexpected and came as a shock to the community. He is survived by his widow, a brother, Mr. Martin Braby (Proserpine)- and four sisters Mrs. Barton (Inkerman), Mrs. Tuner (Brisbane). Mrs. Saxby (Ayr) and Mrs. Sadler (Lucinda Point).

Died at Ethels house at 44 Gibson St , Ayr Northern Miner (Charters Towers) 9 Dec 1952 OBITUARY MRS MARY SMITH A well-known and respected Ayr district resident, Mrs Mary Smith, passed away at Ayr recently at the age of 87. A native of Victoria, Mrs Smith came north about 1900 when her husband, the late Mr George Smith, took up an engineering position with the St George Mill at Charters Towers. The family resided on the goldfield till 1910 when Mr Smith took up a portion of Airdmillan Estate at Ayr, which the family still farms, supplying cane to Kalamia, sugar mill. The late Mrs Smith had a cheerful disposition, which won friends for her on all sides. Her funeral was very largely attended. She is survived by four sons. Bill, Frank, Roy, and Percy, and two daughters, Mrs E. Braby, and Mrs W. Hobbs, all of Ayr. Mr Smith pre-deceased his wife by 20 years.

No children from either marriage. Ayr Advocate THANKS We wish to thank all relatives, friends and hospital visitors for their support and expressions of sympathy on the ocasion of the passing of my sister, Ethel Agnes Hicks, aged 91 years, at the Ayr Distriact Hospital on the 11th February, 1984. Our thanks also to Deaconess Moody, Rev. David Todd, Burdekin Funerals and the Pall Bearers. We appreciate sincerely, the care, dedication and courtesy shown to "Aunty Ethel" by the Hospital staff, both Nursing and Domestic during her long illness. Please accept this as our personal thanks.
