Note 3: Reg No 1926/C47 - Qld Townsville Daily Bulletin 31 March 1926 WEDDING. SOPER— CORNISH. St. Helen's Church of England, Home Hill, was the scene of a pretty wed ding, when the Rev. N. Michael, in the presence of a very large gathering solemnised the marriage of Mr. Ernest Soper, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Soper, of Home Hill, and Miss Myrtle Cornish, only daughter of Mrs E. E. Cornish and the late Mr. R. T. Cornish, of Hazelglen, Home Hill (says the 'Herbert River Express'). The bride who was given away by her brother, Mr. W. T. Cornish, wore a frock of brocaded satin morocaln em broidered in pearls. Her embroidered veil was held in position by a ban deaux of pearls and orange blossoms. She also carried a beautiful sheaf of white and pink chrysanthemums and real orange blossoms. Miss Farqu- hasen, of Toowoomba, was bridesmaid and the two little train bearers were Missel Ethel and Joyce Cornish, nieces of the bride. The church was beauti fully decorated for the occasion. After the ceremony, the bride's mother en tertained over 30 guests at a reception at Hazelglen. The honeymoon was spent at the Barron Falls, the bride travelling In a costume of tight brown morocaln with hat to match.

Note 4: Reg No 1926/003736 - page 1658 - Samuel Soper and Grace Hamilton? Burdekin cemetery records - Samuel Soper - age 64 - died 20/6/1926 - buried Home Hill 21/6/1926 Cairns Post 29 June 1926 MR. SAMUEL SOPER. Another, pioneer of the Lower Burdekin passed away when Mr. Samuel Soper breathed his last in Craigdhu Private Hospital, Ayr, at the age of 65 years, his ailment being heart trouble, from which he had been suffering for the past six months. Landing on the Burdekin in the early eighties the late Mr. Soper was one of the first men to grub a tree on the old Seaforth Plantation at the time of the erection of the mill bearing that name. For several years following the deceased carried out the trade of brickmaker at the various sugar mills then in the district, and upon the erection of Pioneer Mill was engaged as a fitter for some years, leaving that position to go to Selheim as an engineer at the smelting works. The late Mr. Soper took up a block of land on the Inkerman Resumption some 14 years ago, and successfully pursued the career of sugar farming at the time of his death. In 1914. the first year that Inkerman Mill crushed, the deceased was engaged as driver of the crushing engines. A widow and grown-up family of five sons and four daughters are left to mourn, being Messrs. S. Soper (Bowen), W. Soper (Sydney), Bert, Ernest and Henry Soper'. ((Burdekin), and Mesdames A. W Cowley, P. Dutton, H. Lowe and W. Cornish. The funeral, largely attended, left the Home Hill, station (the body being brought to Home Hill for interment) The service was; conducted by Rev.' Norman Michael, C. of E.
