Brisbane Courier 25 Oct 1923
The late Mr. Edward Kay Tidswell,
whose death took place at Carella, Camp-
bell-street, Toowoomba on October 17,
was 68 years of age. He was the second
son of Mr. H. Ernshaw Tidswell, a by-
gone Sydney merchant. He lived at
Balmain and was educated at Camden
College, Sydney. Forty-five years ago
he came to Queensland where he engaged
in pastoral pursuits till his retirement in
1911. He obtained the management of
Wigton station, in the Burnett district,
and after the sale of that property he
resided in Maryborough till 1889, when
he purchased Nalla station, in the Burnett
district which he held for seventeen
years. He then moved to the Downs,
and purchased the property known as
Lyndley in the Dalby district. This he
sold in 1911 and afterwards lived quietly
in Toowoomba. He is survived by his
wife, two sons (Messrs. Chas. E., and
Colin Tidswell who are following pas-
toral pursuits in the Charleville district)
and a daughter (Mrs. Langton, who re-
sides in Brisbane). The eldest son,
Douglas, made the great sacrifice in the
recent war, being killed at Polygon Wood
on 20th September 1917. Of a retiring
yet kindly disposition, the late Mr. Tids-
well generously supported the public funds
during the late war.
