Morning Bulletin (Rockhampton) 7 Jan 1936
THE LATE MRS C. J. CRONE
There passed away recently one of
the oldest residents of the Rockhampton
district in the person of Mrs Catherine
Jane Crone, of Bouldercombe.
Born in India, the late Mrs Crone
(whose maiden name was Joyce) came
to Queensland when a girl with her
parents. Her father was a military pen-
sioner who had gone through the Indian
Mutiny. On arriving in Rockhampton
Mr Joyce became gardener to the late
James Stewart, and planted the trees
lately cut down to make way for the
shops being built by Mr de Vino on
Stewart's Block. After her marriage to
the late John Crone she went to live at
Bouldercombe, and has resided there for
over 40 years.
The late Mrs Crone was predeceased
by her husband by about 10 years, and
by her third son, Tom, by four months.
She is survived by a grown-up family
of five sons and three daughters.
The remains were interred in the
Rockhampton cemetery, Canon Davison,
of the Church of England, performing
the last rites.
