CHILTERN, Monday.
A farmer named Albert Griffin committed
suicide yesterday by hanging himself in a
barn, close to his house, on the Indigo
Creek. He was a very old resident, and at
one time a prominent man in public afliairs
He was for many years the leader of a religious
body which believed that the millenium
was at hand. He left that connexion, and
was afterwards an inmate of one of the Melbourne
inebriate asylums. He had been
been drinking heavily a few days before his
death. A magisterial inquiry was held when
a verdict of temporary insanity was returned.
The deceased leaves a widow and grown up
family.

Eleanor is the daughter of John Searns and Ann (Nanny) Cossens. Her sister Mary was her twin.

August 19, 1817 Eleanor married James Griffin.
