Family legend has it that George Mellor was a cousin of William Smith. Do you know anything about this connection?
(The 1841 census has a George Mellor (13) and Samuel Mellor (15) living with the Nightingale family in Ashover - William Smith was born in Ashover. The 1851 census - has what I think is the same George Mellor (22) - joiner - visiting George and Mary Wilson in Dronfield, Derbyshire (a few miles north of Ashover)
At the burial of George Mellor, son of the George Mellor who migrated here two of the pall bearers were W and D Smith (RELATIVES) see burial notice
