MELLOR -On the 29th August, at his residence, Fraser street, Daylesford, George, the beloved husband of Ellen Mellor, aged 85 years.

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 - 1956) Tuesday 27 January 1914
DAYLESFORD. — Mr. George Mellor, draper, died after an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Mellor had been ill for some three or four days, but not seriously; At midnight on Sunday his condition became serious, and Dr. Trewhella, his medical attendant, was sent for. He advised that an operation was necessary. Mr. Mellor was removed to a private hospital, and operated upon at noon on Monday. The patient never rallied, and died at 4 o'clock. He leaves a widow and child. Mr. Mellor was about 45 years of age.

The remains of the late Mr George Mellor were interred in the Daylesford Cemetery yesterday afternoon, the funeral being largely attended. The coffin-bearers were Messrs Gee and Roberts(employes),' J. Mitchell (Methodist Sunday School), A. Elvish (trustee Methodist Church), W. and D. Smith (RELATIVES); the cord-bearers being Messrs J. Outtrim, jun , J. Sibbison (I.O.R.), W. N. Harvey and R, Laue (Methodist Church), F. Shepard and W. Hands (St. John Ambulance Association). Eight members of-the deceased's Sunday School class (Masters Capstick, Barkas, Guest, Kutcher, Yole, Harris, Simpson and Quick), marched by the side of the hearse to the graveside. The' Rev. 0. Provan conducted the service for the dead at the house and grave, and Mr Verey had charge of the mortuary arrangements. -

My Great Grandfather George Mellor (3 May 1873 – 26 January 1914) married Martha Jane Growcott in Ballarat, in 1900. Their only child, Horace Colbourne Mellor (10 March 1908 -24 Apr 1999) was my grandfather.

In this issue it is announced that the drapery business in Vincent street, which was for so long conducted by the late Mr George Mellor, will be continued in the same name under the management of Messrs H. R. and A. E. Growcott, brothers of Mrs Mellor. The firm is resolved to maintain the high standard of quality and reasonable prices for which the business is noted, and can assure customers of the strictest attention to their requirements. A big stock of new season dress materials has just been opened up, and ladies are cordially invited to call and inspect.

DAYLESFORD. — Mr. George Mellor, draper, died after an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Mellor had been ill for some three or four days, but not seriously; At mid-night on Sunday his condition became serious, and Dr. Trewhella, his medical attendant, was sent for. He advised that an operation was necessary. Mr. Mellor was removed to a private hospital, and operated upon at noon on Monday. The patient never rallied, and died at 4 o'clock. He leaves a widow and child. Mr. Mellor was about 45 years of age.
