'On the 11th/12th August, 1918, during operations on the SOMME, near PROYART, this man was Regimental Stretcher Bearer. Although being severely wounded in the head he refused to stop work and continued to go out under heavy machine gun fire at close range, to bring in the wounded. He only ceased work after collapsing from the effects of his wound.'

OBITUARY
MR. J. S. ISBISTER
Death on Wednesday removed from
a wide circle of friends in Mackay and
Walkerston a very old identity and
one who had taken an important part
in the milling section of the sugar
industry— Mr. J S. Isbister. As an
engineer he was well known through
out Queensland and his professional
services had been available to several
mills in the Mackay district. He had
attained the age of 77 years. His
widow resides at Walkerston. Rev. L.
Anderson officiated at St. Paul's Pres
byterian Church and at the graveside.
The pall-bearers were Messrs. R.Clarke
W.Clarke, A.Wllkie, R. Smith, F. Brick-
hill and J. W. Madlll. The funeral
arrangements were in the hands of
Mr. Alex. Grant.

THE funeral of the late ISABELLA
ISBISTER, of Walkerston, relict
of James Smith Isbister, and dearly
beloved mother of David, George and
Annie Isbister, Mrs. B. Creese, Mrs.
T. Aaskov and Mrs. J. Pringle, will
move from the Presbyterian Church,
Macalister Street, THIS DAY, at 11
a.m., to the Mackay Cemetery. The
funeral service will commence at
10.50 a.m. Friends will please ac-
cept this intimation and invitation.
