Cairns Post 31 Jan 1927
MRS. F. C. HODEL.
News was received in Cairns yester-
day that Mrs. Model, wife of Mr. P. C.
Hodel, had died in Brisbane.
The late' Mrs. Hodel was a well
known resident of North Queensland
and Thursday Island for about forty
years. She was born near Brisbane
and went while still young, to Thurs-
day Island. She was married there to
Mr. F. C. Hodel, and came to Mareeba
about 14 years ago. She had been ail-
ing for about two years, and for sev-
eral months, had been ill at Mareeba
and Cairns. She was an inmate of a
private hospital for about three
months, and was then advised to seek
a complete change in the south. She
left Cairns on the most recent trip of
the Canberra, accompanied by Mr. Ho-
del and her single daughter. Miss I. P.
Hodel. The intention was to go to
Glen Aplin, but upon their arrival in
Brisbane, the patient became worse
suddenly, and was hurried to Holy
rood Private Hospital. Her condition
gradually became worse, and she died
at 11.50 p.m. on Saturday;
Thc deceased lady leaves a family of
three sons and two daughters. Two
of the sons (Messrs. F. S. and P. E.
Hodel) are married, the third son (Mr.
V. H.) is still single. Mrs. R. Hill is
the married daughter; the other daugh-
ter was unmarried, and accompanied
her mother to Brisbane. Mr. T. C.
Hodel is well known in Cairns busi-
ness circles.
The whole of the family reside in the
Cairns, district, and towards them
much genuine sympathy is expressed.
