DEATH OF MR. HARRY E. ROBERT
SON
The death occurred, last evening about
8 o'clock of Mr. Henry Edward Robertson
a well-known resident. Mr. 'Robertson had
been confined to his bed for about a week
from the effects of an attack of influenza
which he had left too late, and which de
veloped into pneumonia.. The funeral takes
place this afternoon. . The deceased leaves
a widow, three daughters and one son to
mourn their sad loss. The late Mr.Rob
ertson came to this district in the year
1877, when he was but 12 years of age
and, for some years worked (together with
his brother, the late Mr. William Robert
son) for his, grandfather; the late Mr.
W. Wear. Later on he worked for his
brother at Eaton, afterwards conducting
the butchery on his own account. Dispens
ing of his Eaton butchery he entered into
hotel business in that town, and after
conducting that for several years set
out and went to Charters Towers where
he ran the Picnic Hotel and a butchery.
Neither of these two speculations turning
out successful, he returned to Eton, and
once more took over his old hotel there.
Selling this out about six years ago, he
bought the Mackay butchering business
Messrs. Nolan Bros., and has conducted
that most successfully up to the present
time. 'Harry" Robertson, as he was was fam
liarly known to his associates was a
genial and warm-hearted gentleman, but
blunt and to the point, and as honest a
man as ever lived. His widow is a daughter
of Mr. Geo. Ironside of Eton.

Obituary.
ALD. H. G. ROBERTSON. The death occurred early yesterday afternoon at his home in George-street of Alderman Henry George Robertson, of the butchery of G.H. Robertson Pty Ltd. Aged 43, the late Mr. Robertson was a keen cattle-buyer and business man and was well-known throughout the State.
Born at Eton, he came to Mackay over 30 years, ago. His father conducted, the butchery in Victoria-street now known as the Mackay Meat Supply. Following his father's death the late Ald. Robertson was employed at Wallis's butchery. In 1915 he went to the war, being invalided home two years later; and for three years he was secretary of the Mackay Returned Soldiers' League. For a time he conducted a car on the stand, and then became manager of the Victoria-street butchery of his cousin, Mr. R. G. Robertson.
After serving as manager for the Mackay State butchery— the premises now occupied by G. H. Robertson Pty. Ltd - the late Mr. Robertson was appointed general manager in Brisbane, a position he retained until the shops were disposed of by the Government in 1929. He returned to Mackay, and in conjunction with others bought the former State butchery.
At the last City Council elections he was appointed alderman. Twelve months ago he went to Brisbane, where he had a severe heart attack, from which he did not recover. In his younger days the late Mr. Robertson was a member of the old Imperial football club, and he also won renown in the fistic world. For many years he was a member of the Caledonian Masonic and Protestant Alliance lodges.
He is survived by his wife, three children— Heather, Henry, and Barbara and three sisters — Mrs O'Toole (Sarina), Mrs. J. Ferguson, (Victoria-street), and Mrs. J. G. Gibb (Pirie-street).
The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, and Rev. R. Bardon, B.A., will conduct the last sad rites.

- Notes: DEATH OF MRS THOMAS CBIBB
Yet another of the old pioneers, who with their husbands helped to subdue the wilderness and pave the way for civilisation to follow in their wake has passed to the Great Beyond, in the person of Mrs. Hannah Cribb, relict of the late Thomas Cribb, of Goobragandra, who died at her home on Friday night last at the advanced age of 84 years. Prior to taking up land on the Goobragandra River, 18 years ago, the late Mr. and Mrs. Cribb were farming and grazing on Elwood, part of Mr. Elliot's Lacmalac Estate, and when they launched out on their own land they had all the pioneering work incidental to turning the forest into waving pastures before them. They reared a large family. Deceased was a sister of Messrs William, Chas. and James Atkinson, all hardy old identities of more than half a century standing in the district. Death came rather suddenly. She had had a cold for about a fortnight, and not until three o'clock on Friday afternoon last was anything serious apprehended. She then seemed to collapse, and Dr. Clouston was sent for, but the vital spark was aflickering, and was too dim to revive, relentless death claiming its victim at 9.40 that night, in a quiet peaceful passing. She was conscious to the last, and recognised all her family who surrounded the bedside just before the last came. There are left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother, whose main care in life was the welfare of her husband and offspring, three daughters (Mrs. Jacob Ballard, Miss Minnie Cribb and Mrs. Les V. Brown), and five sons (Alf, Jack, Charlie, William and Ernest Edward (Dick). Her husband predeceased her by 10 years and five months. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, Mr. Jas. Elphick conducting the funeral arrangements and Rev. A. G. Rix officiating at the grave.
