OREM—Horace A. Skinner, 83, Orem resident for 42 years died in his residence here Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. of causes incident to age.

Mr. Skinner was born Oct. 17, 1887, in Beaver, a son of James H. and Ellen Cartwright Skinner. His father was first mayor and first postmaster in Beaver. He received his education in Beaver schools and became a prominent farmer and stock raiser there.

He married Margaret Patterson in 1888. She died in 1910. He married Charlotte Dimmick in 1913 in Pocatello, Ida., and they moved to Orem, where they have since resided.

Engaged in farming in Orem, Mr. Skinner had been a board member of the Provo Bench Canal Co. and of the Timpanogos Marketing Assn. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include his widow; six sons, Alvin, Wendell and Keith Skinner all of Orem; Earl H. Skinner, Cedar City; Albert Skinner, Beaver; Carl Skinner, Grandview, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Loveridge, Orem; Mrs. Deon Ludwig, Los Angeles; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Nola Hansen, San Diego; a stepson, Lavon Smith, Orem; two brothers, George Skinner, Beaver, Ezra Skinner, Salt Lake City; a sister Mrs. Rita Tolton, Orem; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Sharon L D S Ward chapel by William Vernon, bishop. Burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery. Friends may call at the Fairbanks-Pyne Mortuary here Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday prior to services.

(Note – James Alvin (Skinner) Loveridge is identified as ‘Alvin’ in this obituary which is the name given him at birth (Alvin Skinner). Also, you might be interested to note that one of the other sons, Carl, is David Skinner’s father.)
