DEATH OF MR. A. E. SIMPSON,
Another old resident in the person of
Albert Edward Simpson, better known as
Ted Simpson; joined the great majority on,
Wednesday last; death. taking place at
the Kennedy Hospital from senile decay
the age of 77 years. The funeral took
place on Thursday afternoon, Mr. C.
Whitehead, in the absence of Rev. Mc-
Keown (Church of England) in the coun
try; peforming the last sad rites at the
graveside. The late Mr Simpson was
born in London, England, and as a young
man was coachman and groom to the
Prince of Wales (the late King Edward)
He came out to Australia as a midship
man in the Navy. Went overland with
Suryeyor James Landsborough to Burke-
town and afterwards was in the Customs
service at Swears Island in the Gulf.
Married the second daughter of Mr. G. F.
Sandrock, (for many years Sub-Collector
of Customs here) and leaves a wife, now
residing at Brisbane, and grown up
family of 2 sons and five daughters, 16
grandchildren and one great grandchild
to mourn their loss, his daughters being
Mrs. W. Boulter, Sydney, Mrs Terry,
Goondiwindi, Mrs H. C. Smethurst and
Mrs F. Payne, Don River.

OBITUARY
The death occurred on Sunday morning, after a brief illness, of Mr. George Henry Bell, a well-known resident
of Eyre Street, North Ward, at the age of 68.
The late Mr. Bell was a valued member of the 'Bulletin' staff until his retirement about two years ago.
A native of Charters Towers, he served his time there as a printer,
and nearly 40 years ago came to Townsville to the 'Bulletin.'
A practical tradesman, he was regarded highly by the company and his workmates, many of whom profited from his experience.
Mr, Bell is survived by his widow and four sons, Bill, Gordon, Jack and Robert, and one daughter, Betty (Mrs. Field).
