December 16.
James Dakers, a selector at Landsdown Creek, near the railway line, was yesterday sawing firewood with a steam circular saw, assisted by his two sons. The saw was cracked in the centre and flew to pieces. One piece struck Dakers under the left eye, completely severing the left side of the face. He only lived for an hour.
