DEATH OF SENIOR SERGEANT
MACKIE.
Senior-Sergeant Alexander Mackie
(formerly of Parramatta, and who had
been in charge of the Leichhardt police
division for the past six years) died in a
private hospital in Cambridge-street,
Stanmore, on Sunday morning. The
deceased, who had been ill for about five
months, was one of the best known offi-
cers in the force, with which he had been
associated for 23 years. He was 49 years
of age. The funeral left his late resi-
dence, 1 Macauley-street, Leichhardt, for
the Rookwood Cemetery on Monday af-
ternoon, but in accordance with the de-
ceased's wishes it was of a simple charac-
ter. A large number of officers, how-
ever, were present.
