OBITUARY
. MR. V. E. D. EDWARDS
The death occurred in a Brisbane
hospital yesterday morning of Mr. Vic
tor Ernest Downing Edwards, at the
age of 72 years. For twenty-two years
the late gentleman was employed by
Beaudesert Shire Council as tramway
stationmaster at Rathdowney. Previous
to coming to Rathdowney the late Mr.
Edwards was in the Commonwealth
Service for nineteen years, during
which time he held the position of post
master at Mt. Garnet, Jandowae, and
Rosewood. At one time, too. he was em
ployed by Brisbane Tramways. The late
gentleman was associated with Rath
downey School of Arts since its incep
tion, and was secretary for a number
of years, whilst in the earlier part of
the period he was associated with a
number of public bodies. Practically all
his life he was associated with the Ma-
conic Craft, and was secretary of the
Rathdowney Lodge and, for a time,
Beaudesert Lodge also.
