FUNERAL NOTICE.
THE FUNERAL of the late WIL-
LIAM JOHN WALLACE, of Hat-
ton, will move from the Residence of
Mr. Thos. Riseham, Byron Street,
THIS DAY, at 11 a.m., to the Mackay
Cemetery. Friends will please accept
this intimation.

Daily Mercury (Mackay) 17 April 1918
Our Hatton correspondent writes:
— The death of Mr. W. J. Wallace
has removed another well-known
local identity ... His familiar form,
supported by a rough walking, stick,
will be missed, for the old gentle
man could never be persuaded to
ride a horse, preferring to walk the
five miles between his farm and
Hatton. William John Wallace was
born in County Down, Ireland, in
1847, and came to Mackay from
his native town about 18 years ago .
He was never out of Hatton pre
vious to last January, when he took
up his residence: with his son-in-law
in Mackay, and he;died there, after
a lingering illness. The deceased
was highly respected. The only in
terest taken in public affairs was in
connection with the Presbyterian
Church, of which he was a devot-
ed member. He leaves a wife and
six children,- all resident in the dis
trict, viz., Mrs. Risseham (Mac
kay), James, William John, Hugh'
Robert and Annie May, all of Boon-
gana, or Hatton to whom sympathy
is given at their bereavement.
