Obituary.
MR. JAMES O'TOOLE. .
The news of the death of James
O' Toole, which occurred in Brisbane
on Saturday morning, was received
with sincere regret by a large circle
of friends and acquaintances in Mac
kay. The deceased visited Brisbane
to seek medical aid, and though great
hopes were entertained for his re-
covery about a fortnight ago, he
took a change for the worst, and
gradually sank. -Deceased was the
second son of Mr. James O'Toole, of
Carlysle street. For the last three
or four years he was carrying on an
aerated water business at Walkerston-,
prior to which he spent over thirteen
years in the service of the Railway
Department in Mackay, rising to the
position of an engine driver. He left
the railway to enter into business on
his own account at Walkerston. The
deceased was a robust man, and
never complained of ill health till
about twelve or eighteen months ago,
since then he has been ailing on and
of. He became seriously ill some
months ago, and proceeded to Bris
bane and entered the Mater Misere-
cordia Hospital. All that medical
skill could do was forthcoming, but
the patient expired at 1 o'clock on
Saturday morning. The late : Mr.
O'Toole was a native of Peak Downs,
and arrived in Mackay with his par-
ents about 31 years ago. He was
married to a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Markey. Besides a widow the
deceased, leaves three small children.
The funeral took Place in Brisbane,
on Saturday afternoon. The late Mr
O'Toole was well and favourably
known throughout this district, and
was a member-of the Hibernians and
acted on the Race Club Committee
of that Society, while he also took
an interest in the Walkerston Race
Club. In his death his brothers and
sisters lose a loving brother, and his
sorrowing widow a kind hearted and
loyal husband. Mrs. O'Toole is at
present in Brisbane.
