In 1872 Robert Highfield was listed as a mason, living in Rylstone (Grev ille’s Post Office Dirtectory 1872 Page 451).
In 1881 Robert J Highfield, storekeeper, and others, were the promoters of the Tong Bong Public School.
A History of Rylstone 1920 - 1988 (p. 5) states in 1884 Robert Highfield was the builder of a random rubble schoolroom and residence which still stands as the primary school principal's residence.
Robert Thompson Highfield died 3rd August 1917 and is buried in the Anglican Portion of the Rylstone Cemetery.
