Cowan, Pirie-street. THIS DAY, at 2 p.m. to the Mackay Cemetery. Friends will please accept this, the only intimation and invitation. Daily Mercury (Mackay) 19 Nov 1924 Mr. R. Cowan whose death occurred on October 31st, was a resident of Mackay for 42 years. He arrived with his wife in the Scottish Knight on November 2, 1882, and obtained employment with Messrs. Inverarity and McInnes as ploughman. After being employed on farms and other work for some time he subsequently secured a farm of his own in the North Eton district, where he remained for 14 years, and later resided at Mirani. Ill health caused him to relinquish active work some years ago. The deceased, who was 76 years of age, leaves a widow and grown-up family of seven sons and six daughters

Pirie Street, this day at 2-30 p.m. to the Mackay Cemetery. Daily Mercury (Mackay) 27 Nov 1925 The death of Mrs. Janet Cowan, which occurred on Tuesday afternoon last, removed a resident of 33 years standing. The deceased came to Mac kay in the Scottish Knight and landed with her husband on November 2, 1882. She resided with her husband in various parts of the district, but during the last four or five years has lived in Mackay with her son, Mr. J. Cowan. Her husband predeceased her by thirteen months. She leaves a- large grown-up family. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, to the Mackay cemetery, the burial service being - conducted by Rev. R. Bardon, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church.

Note 9: 1931/C554 Elizabeth Taylor Herrigan Thomas Cowan Christina Isabella Ironside Townsville Daily Bulletin 4 Feb 1931 MACKAY NOTES The sad death of Mrs. Alf Herrigan occurred last week. Deceased had been ailing for some considerable time, but her death came as a shock to all. Mrs. Herrigan was 35 years of age and was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cowan, of Mt. Pellon (well known residents of this district) and was a native of Mackay. A sorrowing husband and four children are left to mourn their loss, besides her mother, father, bro ther and sisters.
