WEDDING BELLS
HOBBS— WEISKE: A wedding of interest to Mackay and district took place at the Holy Trinity Church, Mackay, on Wednesday evening when Jean, elder daughter of Mrs. M. Weiske, and the late Mr. W. Weiske. "Newstead." Byron street, was married to William George, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hobbs, Owen's Creek. Rev. H. G. Robinson officiated and Mr. Cumming presided at the organ. During the signing of the register Miss M. Watson sang "Ave Maria." Vases of rose colored gerberas and bridal veil fern decorated the Church. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her uncle, Mr. R. Curran, looked charming in a soft gown of silk tulle over taffeta, with the bodice draped to a panel, appliqued in a lily design with silver thread. Similar applique work set of the sleeves and the skirt, which fell to form a circular train, on which the design was repeated. Her embroidered tulle veil was arranged with two white orchids. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies tied with satin streamers and wore the bride groom's gift, a black opal dress ring. There were two attendants, Misses Mavis Heath and Dulcie Welske (the bride's sister). They were frocked alike in blue net over taffeta. The bodices featured boat shaped necks outlined by ruching of pink net, finished with pink rosebuds. Pink rosebuds in silver horseshoes also formed the trimming for the bouffant skirts. Blue Juliet caps, edged with silver ribbon and pink rosebuds, were worn, and they carried circular bouquets of pink gerberas and sweet peas in blue tonings, tied with pink and blue streamers. "Miss Heath wore a signet ring, and Miss Welske a sap phire pendant, the bridegroom's gifts. The best man was Mr. R. Hobbs (the groom's brother) and the grooms man, Mr. R. Byrne. The reception was held at the Parish Hall, which was decorated for the occasion in sweet peas and roses. Over the bridal table a wedding bell of eucharis lilies was suspended, arranged with blue, pink, and silver streamers. A feature of the bridal table was the three-tier square cake, made by the bride's mother, and her aunt, Mrs. E. R. Weiske, and iced by a girl friend of the bride, Miss E. Hope. One tier was decorated for the bride in the horse emblems, and one represented the groom's profession. The guests were received by the bride's mother, who covered her crushed rose frock which had three- quarter length sleeves with a navy edge to edge coat. With It she wore a navy scisol straw hat and navy accessories. Her bouquet was of red roses, gerberas and sweet peas. The bridegroom's mother chose a navy ensemble worn with a navy straw hat relieved with white. Red roses and gerberas formed her bouquet. Leaving for the honeymoon, which is to be spent in Townsville, the bride wore a Marie Antoinette blue wool-de-Chine frock, with a laced contrasting cummerbund of navy, and navy embroidery on the bodice. Her navy felt hat was trimmed with the lighter blue tone. Her coat was silver gray fur, full length, made with an extended shoulder line and slightly flared skirt.
