William Lawler was a labourer and then joined the RIC at Barrick Street on 11th September 1858 and rose to Head Constable of Belfast Police. His badge no. was 23869. He retired in 16th February 1889 after a 31 year service. He married Mary Anne Morteshed on 19th November 1878 at Church of Ireland, Ballinaclough, Tipperary, County Limerick when he was 39 years of age!!!!
