Personal Notes:
Rootsweb:
1. Mary Robinson born 1836 with at least 1 daughter Hannah b. Ashover 1856. Her husband died and she married William Brittle in 1865. Where was she in 1861? Thanks. Jim

2. I wonder if this is her on the 1861 census as I noticed that there was an Elizabeth Lomas living with them in 1871.

Ashover Village, Ashover
RG9/2525 Folio 4 page 2

Mary Nightingale, Head, Un, 24, Proprietor of Houses & Land, Ashover
Hannah Nightingale, Daur, U, 5, Scholar, Ashover
Samuel Millor, Brother in Law, U, 35, labourer at Lead Mine, Ashover
Elizabeth Lomas, Aunt, U, 58, Proprietor of Houses & Land, Wooley Moor Derbyshire

Hannah was transcribed as 3 but the image looks like 5.

There is a Mary Nightingale marrying in June Qtr, 1861 Chesterfield with possible Spouse Charles Robinson. Also a possible death for Charles in Dec. Qtr. 1863 Chesterfield, but this is pure speculation at the moment.

3. Thank you very much ... that is her and the Robinson connection looks to be spot on too as she married my ggggrandfather Willliam Brittle in 1865 a year after his wife died. If you can find Hannah in 1871 that would give further clues as they both ditched their children when they married. William sent his 4 daughters into service and Mary seems to have got rid of Hannah and kept, William Robinson, b.1862, her young son. Jim

4. This looks like Hannah on the 1871 census:
61 Sheffield Road, Chesterfield
Frank Clayton, Head, M, 39, Notts Mansfield
Harriet H, Wife, M, 43, Lancashire Liverpool
HANNAH NIGHTINGALE, Serv, U, 15, General Serv. Derbyshire Ashover
