MALPASS: Sacred to the memory of William Henry Malpass, who departed this life on the 4th April, 1950.

OBITUARY
William Henry Malpass, aged 82 years, died at Townsville on April 4. Born in England in 1868 he came to Queensland as a youth and settled in Ravenswood, where he married. For several years in Ravenswood he was proprietor of the Miners' Hotel, and after leaving Ravenswood he became the proprietor of the Grand View Hotel in Bowen. The latter years of his life were spent in Townsville. The late Mr. Malpass was a member of the Masonic Lodge for half a century, and was respected by all who knew him. His widow, son, daughter and a sister in England survive him.

The Mount Elliott Accident
Mr. W. H. Malpass, of the Miners Hotel, Ravenswood, is in receipt of the following wire from Harry Miles of Mt Elliott:-"Jim blown up to day, five o'clock twenty eight will bury him here."
This wire referred to a fatal accident which befel James Miles, in the Mount Elliott Mine on Friday last.
Deceased was about 28 years of age and had been a resident of Ravenswood for a number of years ..........
