CUSHING. — The Relatives and Friends of Mr.
Robert Frederick Cushing (late Supt.. Sher-
wood Fire Brlgade) are invited to attend his
Funeral, to leave the residence of his Daugh-
er, Mrs. J. Garrigan, Bowman Parade, Bar-
don, This (Thursday) Afternoon, at 3.30
o'clock, for the Toowong Cemetery.

Mr. Robert Frederick Cushing, who
died at the residence of his son-in-law
and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. J. W.
Garrigan, Bowman Parade. Bardon,
was for many years associated first
with Ithaca and later with Sherwood
volunteer „fire brigades, and ' after
wards for some years with the latter
brigade when it was merged into the
Metropolitan Brigade. He joined the
Ithaca Brigade in 1891, and he was
the first superintendent of the Sher
wood Volunteer Fire Brigade and con
tinued as such when, the brigade was
gazetted under the new Act in 1925.
He retired eight years ago and lived
at Redcliffc for a couple of years
before going to live with his son-
in-law and daughter mentioned.
The late Mr. Cushing was' born at
St. John's Wood. London, 74 years
ago. He came to Queensland when
only ten years of age, and lived In
this State all the rest of his life. He
had 12 sons and daughters, nine of
whom are living, six daughters and
throe sons. There also are 22 grand
children and seven great-grandchild
ren. Mrs. Cushing died five years ago.
