OBITUARY
MRS. R. B. BRACKEN
The death occurred yesterday of
Mrs. Mary Anne Bracken at her resi
dence, Scarness, after a long illness.
Mrs. Bracken who was aged 78 years
and 11 months, was born in Enniskillen.
Ireland, and came out to Queensland on
April 26 1883 in the sailing ship, Gran
ville, landing at Maryborough. Mr.
and Mrs. Bracken resided at Mary
borough for some years and later set-
tied at Gunalda where they engaged
in dairying for 23 years. Retiring
from these pursuits Mr. and
Mrs. Bracken went to Scarness.
Mrs. Bracken is survived by her hus
band, Mr. Richard Bracken (Scarness).
three sons — Messrs. Hugh Valentine.
Richard William and James Henry
Bracken (.Gunalda) — and one daughter.
Florence Isabel - Scarness). There is
one brother. Mr. James Veitch (Mel
bourne). The funeral will leave St.
Paul's Church of England at 2.30
o'clock this afternoon.

MR. R. BRACKEN
The death of Mr. Richard Bracken,
aged 83 years, a well-known and re
spected resident of Scarness, occurred
yesterday. The late Mr. Bracken was
born at Enniskillen, Ireland, and came
out to Queensland in the sailing ship
Earl Granville, landing at Maryborough
on April 26 1883. He had worked in
Maryborough and district ever since.
He was an employee of the Queensland
Railway Department for many years
subsequently he took up land at Gunalda
were he engagen in farming for
several years. For the past year
he had lived a retired life at Scarness.
His wife predeceased him by four
years. He is survived by three sons
Messrs. Hugh, William, and James
Bracken, all of Gunalda and one daughter.
