DEATHS
Mr. Robert Howe, senior, an old resident of Rylstone, died about 8 o'clock on Thursday evening last. Mr. Howe had been ailing for some time past, so that his death was not totally unexpected.

MR. ROBERT HOWE.
Mr. Robert Howe, who died at Rylstone last week, at the age of 89 years, was a link with the early history of Journalism in New South Wales. He was born at the old Sydney "Gazette" office in George-street, Sydney. His great-grandfather founded and owned the "Gazette," and three generations of the Howe family conducted the paper.

Mr. Howe's grandmother was Sarah Bloodworth, a daughter of Maria Lee, who was born at Norfolk Island in 1796. The Blood- worths had a grant of land at Dabee, in the Rylstone district, over a hundred years ago. For the greater part of his life Mr. Robert Howe lived in the Rylstone district, following rural pursuits. For many years he followed the calling of a bee-farmer.

DEBT 50 YEARS OLD
Paid From Dead Man's Estate
SYDNEY, Thursday.-The registrar in bankruptcy (Mr. H. Huntley) yesterday admitted proof of a debt of £56/1/10, contracted more than 50 years ago. The application was made by the executors of the estate of the late Samuel George Benson, who was a creditor in the Insolvent estate of Robert Howe, deceased, formerly baker and butcher, of Rylstone. Howe's estate was sequestrated on February 13, 1880, his debts then being £ 155/5/. The estate was more than sufficient to pay the creditors in full, but the assignee's fee of £3/17/ was not paid. On searching the files the official assignee (Mr. A. E. Camp- bell) found that Howe was an unceruflcated insolvent. Howe died on October 23, 1930, and his estate was sworn at under £681. In December, 1932, the executors of Howe's estate applied for a release, which was granted, and the official assignee, after paying the debts in full, was able to return a balance to the executors of Howe's estate.
