Cairns Post 31 January 1912
DEATH OF MRS. BURTEN-
SHAW.
The sad news was received in town
yesterday of the death of Mrs. Butenshaw,
wife of Mr "Dick" Burtenshaw,
formerly of the Cairns Customs,
at the Townsville Hospital,
where she had been an inmate for
some time, suffering from a painful
complaint. The deceased lady will
be always remembered in Cairns as a
real genuine good-hearted woman,
and her many friends will hear with
regret of her death.

Cairns Post 3 February 1912
-Referring to the death of Mrs.
Burtenshaw, the Townsville "Bulle
tin" says : The many friends in
Townsville and Cairns of Mr. and
Mrs. R. E. Burtenshaw will read
with regret of the death of the lat-
ter at the hospital on Tuesday.
Mrs. Burtenshaw, who was not 40
years of age, had been ill for the
past four or five months, and al-
though suffering almost continual
pain, she kept a bright and cheer
ful spirit to the end. She has left
a husband and a young daughter to
mourn their loss, and great sympa
thy is felt for them.
