Father John Widdup
Mother Bridget O'Brien MR. ALFRED E. WIDDUP The death took place at the Mc Caughey Memorial Hospital, Urana, on Wednesday night, 19th October, of an old Urana identity, in the person of Mr. Alfred England Widdup, aged 70 years. The deceased, who was born in Urana, resided in the district all his life, and always proved him self a man of sterling character. He was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. The deceased was at one time employed by the N.S.W. railways as a ganger, but in 1918 he gave up his occupation to take on farming pursuits, which he carried on to the time of his death. The late Mr. Widdup was married to Miss Mary Hickey, at Narandera, 34 years ago, and of the union there are seven children. The sons are Messrs. Thomas (Urana), Walter (Holbrook), Joseph (Urana), and Alfred (Wagga); the daughters, Mrs. J. Gale (Corowa), and Misses Rose and Martha Widdup (Urana). The deceased gentleman also leaves two brothers and three sisters, the brothers being Walter (Morundah) and James (Mulwala), and the sisters are Mrs. S. Croft (Lockhart), Mrs. Luton (Cooma), and Miss Margaret Widdup (Bankstown). The late Mr. Widdup was a firm adherent of the Roman Catholic faith, and was buried on Friday, 21st October, in the Catholic portion of the Urana cemetery, the Rev. Father Hennessy officiating. The bearers were Messrs. Thomas, Walter and Joseph Widdup (sons), J. Gale (son-in-law), A. Croft and W. Schlue (nephews). Many beautiful floral tributes were carried by Mr. J.
