Married John Widdup.
We have to record the death at her residence on Friday last of Mrs. Bridget Widdup, a colonist of 55 years, who landed in Queensland by the ship Florentia. She also lived for a time in Sydney, and eventually came to Cocketgedong station with Mr. John Broughton, its first owner. After marriage she settled down in Urana, before it was surveyed. She had nine children, (eight of whom survive), 23 grand children and a great-grand child. The deceased was 78 years of age, and was a native of County Clare, Ireland. The large funeral cortege testified to the great respect in which she was regarded. Rev. Cahill officiated at the grave. Wagga Wagga Express (NSW) Saturday 25 May 1912 |
