Personal Notes:
At 19 he took up a selection (ex Crown Land) at Coreinbob which he called "Wayside"; he built a slab house, married Fanny nee Chapman from another former Camden family and raised his family there. Years later "Wayside" was the Coreinbob school teacher's residence. Robert Shoemark and Fanny, along with Fanny's parents were the first free-settlers in the Coreinbob district. They were instrumental in setting up the local school, church and tennis club. They also had a role in the Wagga Wagga to Tumbarumba railway.

Robert was born at Street, Somerset in 1853 to parents John Shoemark and Charlotte Perriam (1).

On 1 Dec 1854, Robert and his parents emigrated to Australia via the ship 'Lord Hungerford' along with 321 Government Immigrants. They left from Plymouth, Page 2 (2). They arrived at Sydney on 20 March 1855 (3).

The family settled at Camden, NSW and Robert grew up with the following siblings:

In January 1874 Robert made a conditional purchase of 200 acres at Coreinbob. Not long after this, he married Fanny Chapman at Tarcutta in 1874 (4). Fanny's father or brother William Chapman, had purchased 320 acres next to Robert.

Robert and Fanny called the property 'Wayside'. Over time the land increased to 660 acres of freehold land.

They had the following children:

Robert also purchased property at Wagga Wagga. For example, he owned 2 brick cottages at 13 and 15 Murray Street; a weatherboard cottage in Lindsay-street; and a brick semi-detached property on Best-street (5).

His wife Fanny sadly died in 1916.

He placed his property - 'Wayside' up for auction in 1926. On 28 May 1927 Robert made his will and asked for the money from sale of his property to be dispersed equally amongst his children (6).

By 1936 Robert had moved to 265 Edward Street, Wagga Wagga (7). He lived with his daughter Jeannie (Jessie).

He lived there until his death on 9 Feb 1939 from Hypostatic Congestion, Myocarditis, and Aorta Disease- Stenosis Aortic. The death informant was his son Samuel (8).

He was buried in the Methodist portion of the Wagga Wagga Monumental Cemetery on 10 Feb 1939.
