OBITUARY
MR. ROBERT KEMP
Death claimed another of the old Tumut native-born on Wednesday last at noon, in the person of Mr. Robert Kemp, aged 70 years. Deceased, who had been a robust, energetic man all his previous life, last summer suffered a heart seizure of such great severity that his medical adviser forbade him exerting himself, and he thereupon moved about leisurely. About a week prior to his demise he became critically ill, and gradually sank. He was a son of the late Henry Gordon Kemp who came to Tumut from the Old Country in the early days, and coming to manhood followed building and carpentering as a vocation. He married Rebecca Dean, sister of Stephen and Thomas Dean, of Tumut, the offspring being Mrs Wallie Clee (deceased) Mrs. Thomas Clee (Tumut Plains), Mrs Dave Coote (Manilla)) the survivors, with a sorrowing widow, being left to mourn the loss of a sterling father and a devoted husband. Other members of his parents' family living are Mrs Henry Hoad (Sydney and late of Tumut), Mrs Roger Blomley (Yass), Mrs Dave Clout and Mrs Upton (Sydney), William (Bega) and Henry (Sydney). Being an Oddfellow of long standing, a member of Loyal Tumut Lodge, M.U., he was accorded an Oddfellows' funeral, a touching short service being conducted at the home in Merrivale-st. by RevJ. A. Malcomson before the cortege left for the Presbyerian portion of the Old Cemetery.
