ADELONG. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
One of the old pioneer identities of this district, in the person of Mr. John Crouch, died on Thursday at the ripe old age of 88 years. During the early days of the gold fields Mr. Crouch was one of the leading citizens, taking a prominent part in anything appertaining to the welfare of the district. Mr. Crouch followed mining with varying successes, at times giving employment to many hands, to whom he always paid top wages.
