SMH 30 Nov 1846 "On the 19th instant, at Darbalara, near Yass, the lady of Leopold Fane De Salis, Esq., of a son."

Queanbeyan Age Sat Jun 10 1876 "Death of Mr Rodolph De Salis. We regret to announce the demise, at the residence of his parents at Cuppacumbalong, of Rodolph F. Do Salis, Esq., second son of the Hon. L. Fane De Salis, M.L.O., and younger brother of W. F. Do Salis, Esq., late M.P. for Queanbeyau. The sorrowful event took place about midnight on Tuesday last, and was not quite unlooked for. The deceased gentleman some short time ago returned from Queensland, where, in conjunction with his father and brothers he held extensive pastoral properties. He was ailing on his return home, and by over-exertion whilst on his journey almost exhausted himself. Prostration and fever followed, and notwithstanding assiduous medical attention unmistakeable signs of typhoid fever presented themselves. and though the united skill and attention of Dr Morton and Dr Macqueen were unremittingly employed to check the ravages of the disease, all proved un availing. As soon as the news was announced in town, and as it spread throughout the district, it was received with evident sorrow, and the shutters of every place of business were at once put up, and remained so till to-day. The lamented gentleman was in the prime of his early manhood, being only twenty-nine years of age; and for his gentle and affable disposition was be loved by all who had the happiness of' knowing him. His mysterious removal by the remorseless hand of death, at the period of his life when with matured experience and strengthened intellect he bid fair, to become an ornament and blessing to society, must be a severe blow to his relatives, for whom a deep and genuine expression of commiseration is perceptible throughout the district. The remains of the deceased gentleman were interred yesterday on the estate at Cuppaoumbalong. The funeral was strictly private, but few friends beyond the members of the bereaved family being present, The Rev. P. G. Smith, M.A., of St. John's, Canberra, officiated."
