| - Notes: DEATH OF AN OLD PIONEER.
On Saturday morning last at 9 o'clock there passed away an old and deserving pioneer in the person of Mr Thomas Cribb, of Goobragandra, at the ripe old age of 70 years. For about three months he had been complaining with a trouble in his head, for which Dr Mason attended him. Subsequently he suffered from an enlargement on his side, and this, in addition to senile decay (notwithstanding the care and attention bestowed upon him), was the cause of his demise. The departed, when the sunshine was upon him, was respected by the interested ones in pastoral matters, seeing that he possessed a keen insight and knowledge they of times found the benefit of obtaining, and his several sons follow in his footsteps. He has been favorably known to our correspondent for 48 years, and he, with them, can vouch for his liberal and kindly disposition. For years past the town saw little of him. He resided with his family in their almost native home at Goobragandra, where they have comfortable possessions, and his removal thence will be regretted. He was a good, kind intentioned man, and we with his wife and offspring regret his departure. His remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the new cemetery Sunday. Mr. James Elphick was the undertaker, and (in the unavoidable absence of Rev. W. D. Kennedy), Mr. C. W. M. Vernon, (lay reader), officiated at the grave.
