Personal Notes:
Caroline was sentenced to 7 years in Australia and left Portsmouth on the 12/5/1833., the name of the ship was Buffalo. She was born in 1817. Described as 5 foot, dark pale complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, front teeth apart, several warts back of left hand, wart back middle finger right hand, able read but not write. trade or calling All Works. Her trial was in Portsmount in January 1833 sentenced to 7 years transportation.

Caroline HAINES correct name was just that. I have no idea where the Paulina came from. In all of her records from her Baptism Record until her death the only time Paulina was mentioned is on her Death Certificate. This Death Certificate information supplied by her daughter Hannah is a complete botch up. When supplying the information to the undertaker Hannah gave her own parents names and occupation in lieu of Carolines. i.e. Thomas, farmer and Carolina Paulina (sic).

Her parents were in fact George HAINES and his partner Ann ?? This is still a work in progress for me as I have a feeling they weren’t married and this is making it difficult to find her maiden name.
