MR. FREDERICK L. WEEDEN
The death occurred at his home in Russell-Street, Tumut, on Friday afternoon last of Mr. Frederick Louis Weeden, at the age of 76 years. Deceased was the secretary of the first fire brigade formed in Tumut, but apart from this he took little part in public affairs. The late Mr. Weeden was three times married, his first and second wives— neeSarah Kell and Emma Oddy— having predeceased him. Some years ago he married Matron Townsend, of Hamilton, who is left to mourn his loss. There were families born to the first and second, unions and those surviving are Daisy (Mrs. G. Hoad, Tumut), Lucy (Mrs. C. R. Byrne, Bombowlee), Nellie (Mrs. Ray Johnson, Blowering (first marriage) and Keith (Tumut), Stella (Mrs. A. B. Jones, Tweed Heads), Zilla (Mrs. Arch Johnson, Tumut), and Emma (Mrs. N. K. Walsh, Hobart). One daughter, Vera, and a daughter and son (the latter died in infancy) predeceased him. In addition to one brother. Charles (Boorowa) and one sister, May (Mrs. Herman, Manly), there are also four step-sisters and one step-brother surviving, viz.: Miss A. M, Weeden (Guildford), Mrs. L. W. Storey (Old Junee). Miss B. R. Weeden (Sydney), Gwen (Mrs. L. D. Maitland, Tumut) and Mr. Harold Weeden (Tumut). One brother, Mr. W. F.Weeden, of Young, predeceased him. The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, leaving from the Methodist Church after a service conducted by Hev. R.S. Woodger (Presbyterian minister) for the Methodist portion of the Tumut old cemetery, where interment took place. Rev. M, Webb (Methodist minister) officiated at the graveside and W. W. Beavan and Son had charge of the mortuary arrangements. The pall bearers were Messrs. C. K. Byrne, Ray Johnson, Arch Johnson (sons-in.law), Kinlock Byrne, Allan Hoad and John Johnson (grandsons).
