OBITUARY MRS. MARGARET DAY As briefly mentioned in our last issue, the death occurred at the residence of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Sturt, Boundary-Street, Tumut, on Wednesday evening last of Mrs. Margaret Day, wife of the late Mr. Benjamin Day of Mondongo, at the age of 85 years. Deceased had been enjoying excellent health and death came suddenly as the result of a heart attack. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Kell of Lacmalac, where she was born. Sixty-one years ago, at Tumut, she married Mr. Benjamin Day and they resided on their Mondongo property all their married life. The late Mrs. Day remained for another twelve months after the death of her husband eight years ago when she went to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sturt. Deceased was very devoted to her family and lived for them and her home. She was ever ready to assist those in trouble or with sickness. A keen gardener, her main hobby was her flower garden. There are four sons and two daughters surviving, viz. Walter, Roley, Jack and William, Annie (Mrs. R.G. Sturt) and Sylvia (Mrs. F. Piper), all of Tumut. Two daughters, Rosie (Mrs. Rosetta) and Maggie (died in infancy) predeceased her. There are also two brothers and two sisters surviving, viz.: James and William Kell (Lacmalac), Jessie (Mrs. Gordon, Aubury) and Lillian (Mrs. C. Clout, Tumut Plains). The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon last, leaving from the Presbyterian Church af ter a short service conducted by Rev. Brown, who also officiated at the graveside. Messrs. W. W. Beavan & Son had charge of the mortuary arrangements and the pall-bearers were Messrs. Walter, Jack, Roley and William Day (sons) and R. G. Sturt and F. Piper (sons-in-law). Sturt, Boundary Street, Tumut, on Wednesday evening last of Mrs. Margaret Day, wife of the late Mr. Benjamin Day of Mondongo, at the age of 85 years. Deceased had been enjoying excellent health and death came suddenly as the result of a heart attack. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Kell of Lacmalac, where she was born. Sixty-one years ago, at Tumut, she married Mr. Benjamin Day and they resided on their Mondongo property all their married life. The late Mrs. Day remained for another twelve months after the death of her husband eight years ago when she went to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sturt. Deceased was very devoted to her family and lived for them and her home. She was ever ready to assist those in trouble or with sickness. A keen gardener, her main hobby was her flower garden. There are four sons and two daughters surviving, viz. Walter, Roley, Jack and William, Annie (Mrs. R.G. Sturt) and Sylvia (Mrs. F. Piper), all of Tumut. Two daughters, Rosie (Mrs. Rosetta) and Maggie (died in infancy) predeceased her. There are also two brothers and two sisters surviving, viz.: James and William Kell (Lacmalac), Jessie (Mrs. Gordon, Aubury) and Lillian (Mrs. C. Clout, Tumut Plains). The funeral took place on Thursday afternoon last, leaving from the Presbyterian Church after a short service conducted by Rev. Brown, who also officiated at the graveside. Messrs. W. W. Beavan & Son had charge of the mortuary arrangements and the pall-bearers were Messrs. Walter, Jack, Roley and William Day (sons) and R. G. Sturt and F. Piper (sons-in-law).
