Death of Miss Mary Anne Hoad
We deeply regret to state that on Monday last the reaper visited still another home, and snatched away a deeply patient, but long troubled victim, in the person of Miss Mary Anne (Manie), the second eldest daughter of Mr H. W. Hoad, at his residence, Russell-street, at the early age of 31 years. The cause of death was that insidious, death dealing malady, phythisis. The bright promising girl of eight years ago, the fond and ever attentive nurse of her deceased mother (from whom she contracted the trouble), succumbed after a long, wearisome illness, which she bore with patient resignation and preparedness, the only solace to her fond and troubled father. As day succeeded day she gradually grew weaker, but not a murmur escaped her till at last she passed "beyond the vale," we trust to a happier land, where troubles are no more.
During her illness Dr. Mason gave her every attention, she was carefully nursed and had every wish attended to, all alas ! in vain. She leaves behind her a sorrowing father, and stepmother, two sisters, Mrs Learmont (Young) and Miss Dorothy Hoad (Tumut), and one brother Mr H. Hoad (Quirindi), to mourn the loss of a fond and affectionate daughter and sister.
The funeral took place on Wednesday last the remains being interred in the Church of England portion of the old cemetery. A large cortege of sympathising friends paid their last tribute of respect to the departed. Mr Jas Elphick was the undertaker, and the Rev Ross Edwards officiated at the grave. We tender the bereaved ones our deepest sympathy and condolence.
