TUMUT. DEATH OF MRS. W.H. HOAD
It is with feeling of the very deepest regret we have to record that Mrs. H.W. Hoad, wife of our esteemed townsman H. W. Hoad, passed quietly away on the night of Thursday last, in her 46th year. The deceased lady had been ailing for over two years and the immediate cause of death is given as tuberculosis, or consumption of the throat, accelerated by an attack of influenza. She received every attention that loving hands could bestow. Dr. Mason had been treating her for some time, and he and Dr.Fitzpatrick held a consultation on Tuesday last,but the grim conquerer claimed his own, and thus passed away a fond wife and mother, a sincere, sympathetic friend, and one who will be deeply missed in our small community. The undertaking duty was carried out by Mr. C. Passlow (of Adelong) in his excellent style. The coffin was of cedar, richly mounted, and was literally covered with floral tributes sent by sympathizing friends from all parts of the district. At 3.20 p.m. on Sunder the funeral took place and was very largely attended. The Rev. T. E. Owens-Mell officiated at the grave. The deceased leaves a husband, three daughters (Mrs. J. Learmont being the eldest), and one son to mourn their irreparable loss. We tender the bereaved ones our heartfelt sympathy.
