Son of William and Margaret The Tumut and Adelong Times (NSW : 1864 - 1867; 1899 - 1950) Fri 14 Jan 1910 Death of Mr. F. J. Hurle. We regret to record the death of Mr.Frederick James Hurle, which took place at his late residence, Gilmore, on Tuesday night last, after a lingering illness extending over a period of two and a half years, and at times most acute pain was felt by him. About two years ago the patient went to Sydney, where he was operated on by Dr. McCormick for an internal growth, it being found necessary to remove a portion of an intestine. After the operation Mr. Hurle seemed to have quite regained his health, but it was not long before distressful symptoms again manifested themselves, and the disease has been growing gradually ever since, death coming as a happy release to the patient sufferer, whom it has long been apparent had no hope of getting rid of his malady. Drs.Mason and Browne did all that was possible to alleviate pain, and this was all that could be done in the case. Deceased was 57 years of age, having been born at Cooper's Creek, in Victoria. He came to this district, with his wife and family, about 10 years ago, when he secured the comfortable holding on Gilmore Creek where he has resided ever since. He was of an unassuming nature, but was possessed of qualities that won for him the best of esteem and regard of all acquaintances. He leaves a sorrowing widow and an affectionate family of three daughters and one son to mourn over the sad bereavement they have suffered. The son and one of the daughters resided with their parents, and the other two daughters (Mrs. A. Pether and Mrs. C. Pether) are located respectively at Goobragandra and Brewarrina. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place yesterday (Thursday), Rev. Kennedy performing the last sad rites at the grave, in the old cemetery, and Mr. J. Elphick was the undertaker. We extend, on behalf of friends of the deceased, sincere sympathy to the widow and family over the mournful sorrow they have been called upon to bear. |
