Mr. Norman J. Amos, District Engineer on the Cairns railway, with Mrs Amos (nee Newell), passed through by the Wyreema on Monday on a honeymoon trip south. On Thursday last, Mr. Amos was presented with a silver tea and coffee service by Mr. Prewett, Traffic Manager, on behalf of the employees of the railway at Cairns as a small mark of the esteem in which he is held.

A pretty wedding was quietly celebrated at Elderslie, Herberton, the home of the bride's parents, by the Rev. J. A. Sinclair (Presbyterian minister) on Friday evening last (says the " Wild River Times " of 11th April), the contracting parties being Miss Janet Isabel Newell, elder daughter of Blr. and Mrs. John Newell, and Mr. Norman J . Amos, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos, Clayfield, Brisbane. The ceremony wus held in the drawing room, which was most lasiciully decorated with beautiful flowers sent from all ports ot the district by the many friends and well-wishers of the young couple. Bowls of lovely white flowers were on the table before the wedding party, and a handsome wedding bell hung above. Blah…
