Personal Notes:

Shortly after war was declared in 1914, Iohn Douglas 03 Oct 1893 volunteered and with brother Bob and cousin Doug Carr left Gundagai on 01 Feb 1915. All three were at Gallipoli where they had frequent contact with another cousin Fred Elworthy.
Tragically Robert 1896, unmarried, was killed at Lone Pine, Gallipoli on 29 Sep 1915 just 34 weeks after leaving home - and aged only 19.
Jack spent some time in Randwick Military Hospital before returning home to an official welcome on 25 Mar 1919 after four years service. He became a stock and station agent at Adelong, married Gertrude NASH at Bondi and had three children.
In July 1931 the Gundagai Times reported that "Mrs Nash had entered into possession of the Star Hotel, Tumut where our friend Jack Isaac will be barman. Gundagai visitors are sure to call- if only to see how Jack pulls beer".
